Lemons and Lanterns

4:00:00 AM

While we are on the topic of lemons, the custest little things known to man, I figured I would show you my summer mantle and give you tips on how to accomplish it! I am a huge fan of my mantle above my fireplace. It is the perfect place under the TV to bring a little color or pattern. Since I am a huge fan of seasonal changes in the house, my mantle changes 4 times a year. Once for Spring, one for Summer, one for Fall (my favorite), and one for Christmas. I truly believe a beautiful mantle makes or breaks a room!

Start with some type of garland. I currently have garland that is similar to the wreath with the lemons. It stretches from one side to the other, but there are popular ones that hang off the mantle piece as well. Go for anything that you like. The most common ones are leaves, floral, or twigs based. I tend to hit up Michael's when they have their sales on garland to get the best prices and a lot of options. If the garland seems thin, double up and twist into each other to make it look fuller. For summer looks, pick fun flowers or lemons or even just greenery. Summer garlands are readily available at any craft store.

Now for my favorite part of the mantle. I like to add interesting looking candle holders are the end of each side. I love the way the candles glow against my wall while we watch TV at night. In the fall, I have cool little owl shaped candle sticks that bring life into the garland. I always pair items, because it drives me crazy to only have one. I also always like when the mantle is symmetrical. If you don't, that's fine! Your mantle, you can do whatever you want! Right now for my summer mantle, I have two different kinds of lanterns that bring pattern and texture. They also glow, which is such a bonus! (If you can't already tell, I'm in love with candles) I'll share my Christmas, Fall, and Spring mantles as the time rolls back around! You can buy any kind of candles, candle sticks, or lanterns at Hobby Lobby (hello 50% off sales!) or Michael's (50% off sales there too) or even Home Goods! They are all great options and the prices are really too good to beat!

Fireplaces are already centerpieces of any room, but the mantle is the perfect opportunity  to spice up a room and add life. I really love how you can take a mantle in any which way. Tomorrow, I am going to show you one of the most important rooms of the house! My sweet pup Pearl loves it!
