Dressing Up Your Desk

4:00:00 AM

Yesterday was my one year anniversary at work! It's hard to believe I have been out of college for over a year and I've had a full-time job since last September! Working in the corporate world, let alone the actual adult world, is so much more different than I ever would have imagined. Let me tell y'all...it's exhausting! I thought that since it's my work anniversary, I'd share my favorite ways to decorate by boring old cube. It's so important to me to show my personality in a world full of green, yes green, cubes.

Ignore the terrible lighting…an office is not the best place to take pictures!

Paris Prints // These gorgeous pieces are my favorite parts of my desk. I  picked these up in Paris when I was visiting back in 2012. I have 3 of them and the colors are spectacular. My desk isn't big enough for all three, but they really brighten up my spot. I've gotten a lot of comments on them, because most people at work don't have paintings on their desk. They always ask me where they're from and they really make for a great conversation starter. You may not be able to get to Paris soon, but Paris prints are always a good idea.

Candy Jar // One of the easiest ways to become friends with the people on your team and floor is to have a candy jar. I rarely eat from it, but I always keep candy in it for my department. When I first got to the floor, I asked around what everyone's favorites were to make sure I didn't have that weird candy no one enjoys. This darling little house jar came from Bath & Body Works, surprisingly. I absolutely love how it resembles a Parisian cafe, which totally matches my theme! It's totally a win/win. I have a perfectly darling candy jar and my team gets to enjoy it!

Pen Holder // I really have a love affair with cute pens and work is the best place to have a lot of fun pens. I normally hit up the Target dollar section to find all the fun pens I have in my cup. I have adorable gel pens with hearts in the cap, gold and white pencils, a Vera Bradley pen, black and white pencils, and some work pens. I really love how fun and unique each one is. No one at work has fun pens, so it sets me apart from everybody. My little cup holder came from the dollar section as well. I also have paper straws in my cup just in case I need a straw!  If you don't already know, the Target dollar section is where it's at!

These are all cheap and easy ways to dress up your desk at work and set it apart from everyone. In a world full of monotone, be original and add some personal flair! It makes work life so much more fun and working for 8 hours a day, you need a little fun!

  10. Your desk is absolutely adorable! I love that little candy jar, and I completely agree that it helps to make friends. When I was an intern, I had a little candy dish at the end of my desk, and I was able to meet a lot of new people from the community that way :)

  20. I have to agree that the Target dollar section is where I find a lot of my most adorable stationary items. I have so many but continually buy more-- it's only $1, right!?

Congrats on your first year in the real world! Take a look at your life and remind yourself that you're doing it!
