Getting Creative with Chalk

11:50:00 AM

Continuing on the art theme from yesterday, I bring to you one of the favorite things about my house. When I moved into our home on Oak Brook and saw the kitchen I knew I HAD to have a chalkboard wall. It was very easy to do and it has been such a fun time playing with the wall. I am not the most artistic, but my hubby sure is. I leave the drawing up to him! No body, including me, would want to see my drawings! *insert winking emoji here*

Painting a chalkboard wall is not as hard as it sounds...I promise. To paint the chalkboard wall, you need to get a good brand of chalkboard paint. We bought ours from Lowe's and used the Valspar brand in black. It was super easy to roll on and all I did was do two coats. It looks amazing! *Do not color on the wall until 24 hours are up!* The paint hasn't been set all the way, so it will ruin everything you already did!

Once the paint is set, grab a set of chalk and draw! It's amazing the things we do to the wall. We have decorated it for our wedding, seasons, holidays, weekly menus, grocery list, goals, etc! Literally you can do absolutely anything you want. Tyler's tip for cleaning off the wall, use an all-purpose cleaner. The alcohol in it helps to really clean the wall. His favorite one to use is Method brand from Target.

See,  that wasn't so difficult was it! It really is a fun way to jazz up your house, but it's also looks really chic. Does anyone have a a chalkboard wall or chalkboard anything?

  16. The chalkboard paint looks like a fun way to zazzle up an area of the house, I would go with a section in the kitchen to keep family notes, etc

  20. haha, love this post! I love seeing how creative people can get with chalk! I don't think that it's because it's hard to draw, I think the most thing that people have a hard time with drawing chalkboard is the chalk itself (at least for me, I hate the way it sounds and feels), but I do love seeing the art of it.
