Weekend Recap: Houston Edition

4:00:00 AM

Ahh Monday, our most favorite day of the week... I hope everyone had a really lovely weekend! I flew down to Houston for my very good friend's bridal shower! Kelly is getting married in June and I'm so happy I was able to be there to celebrate her!

My flight left at the ungodly hour of 5:50, which meant I was up at 3 AM! Yikes... Tired was quite the understatement for my Saturday! When I arrived, she was there to pick me up! I haven't seen her since my wedding over a year and a half ago! Kelly drove us to a delicious little spot called The Kolache Factory. I've never had a kolache, but goodness these were delicious! For those who haven't indulged in one of these goodies, it's basically an upgraded pig in a blanket with a ton more options for middle fillings!

After breakfast, we went and got our hair done at my favorite salon in Texas! The Drybar is literally the most glamorous and fun place to get a blowout. I sipped a mimosa, watched movies, and walked out with the best curls ever! The sweet lady who did my hair thought I was 15 years old. 15 YEARS OLD! I laughed so hard at that...I'm going to be 24 in literally 4 months. I appreciate that I look younger, but I didn't think I looked THAT young! I died laughing. She also asked me if I was dating anyone. I've been married for over a year and I wear a diamond ring on my left hand. I giggled and said yeah I'm married. I don't wear a diamond ring for fun! She laughed and we just kept chatting away.

Once we had perfect hair and curls, we headed to the bridal shower! The theme was "Pop Fizz Clink" and it was such a darling shower! The colors were pink, black, and gold! I loved everything! The hostesses were the bride's mom's best friends and I adored the relationship between the ladies. They were so fun! One of the hostesses really ran with the theme and was decked out head to toe (literally) in Kate Spade Pop Fizz Clink collection! I loved chatting with her. She's who I want to be when I grow up! I wore a darling blue gingham sundress and carried my favorite Draper James magnolia clutch! We had a fajita lunch with queso and delicious guacamole! I love love fajitas, so a chance to enjoy Tex-Mex was very exciting to me! The ladies served adorably decorated Italian Wedding cookies as the dessert! The recipe is an old tradition from the Bride's family and let me just tell ya. These cookies were so beyond delicious! I may or may not have had 2.

One of my favorite parts is the present opening! She opened a bunch of fun and adorable gifts. Kate Spade was a major theme in the presents. I got her the cute Kate Spade pie pan that said "Sweet Nothings"! It was so cute! As a parting gift, the sweet hostesses gave everyone mini bottles of champagne with a custom label that commemorated the event! Seriously, so cute!

After the shower ended, we all gathered around the TV to watch the Oklahoma basketball game. Needless to say, it was a really bad game, but we had fun watching it! We all had leftover fajitas and continued to talk for hours! I loved getting to know everyone! I flew out of Houston early Sunday morning and was bummed to leave! I can't wait to go back to Houston in June! It's such a fun city!! The weekend was so wonderful! I am glad I was able to fly down and celebrate Kelly! Next time I see her, she will be walking down the aisle!

I've linked my outfit here! My purse and shoes are sold out, so I linked a few others!

What did y'all do for the weekend?

  14. I'm always told that looking young will be a good thing one day- but I feel your pain! I think I will look like a teenager for a long time. I think we will appreciate it more when our friends start to age but we still look young. :) Sounds like a fun trip- thanks for sharing your recap!

  15. The day after our wedding my husband and I said repeatedly that there was nothing about the event that we would have done differently. Every aspect of Chicago wedding venues was perfection. It was everything we hoped for - and more.
