Behind the Blog: 10 Things You May Not Know About Me

4:00:00 AM

I'm back after a little break from blogging. Not sure why the break happened, but I just didn't have any ideas for any blog posts. That's a writer's total nightmare, writer's block. But no matter, I'm back and excited to be past the block!

When I was chatting with some of the people who follow along with my blog and Instagram, a lot of people didn't really know anything about me! I was kind of surprised, but then I realized I've never really shared much about myself. So, I created this blog post as a get to know you and the story behind the blog. Here are my favorite 10 facts about myself!

1. Start with the basics of course! I'm born and raised in Dallas, TX. I went to school in Plano and loved every minute of it. I then went to The University of Oklahoma and majored in European International and Area Studies and minored in French.

2. I met my husband, Tyler, on Twitter! Yeah, you read that right, Twitter! We met through an anonymous account named Belle Rants. She mentioned us in the same tweet and he followed me shortly after. I followed him, because I recognized his college! Tyler drove out from Nashville to Oklahoma in February to meet me in person after Skyping for a month or so. When I saw him for the first time, I knew he was the man I'd spend the rest of my life with. We have been together for about 5 years now! We got married on October 4, 2014 in Dallas. Working on 2 years now, living in Nashville with our two little doxies Pearl and Bailey.

3. I am fluent in French, Spanish, and pretty fluent in Italian. I learned Spanish from elementary school and took honors Spanish from middle school on. When I got to college, my major required me to learn a different language than I took in high school. That's when I decided on French. I think French is my absolute favorite though. I studied in Italy for a semester, so that is why I decided to also take Italian classes at the same time.

4. I studied abroad in Arezzo, Italy during my time at OU. It was the most life changing, amazing, challenging experience of my entire life. I won't lie, when I first got to Italy I wanted to turn around and go home. It was a crisp 100 degrees all day and night outside, but also inside my apartment. That was the thing that really drove me crazy. We had no air conditioner and I missed my family and the well-known so terribly. The moment that turned around my experience was when I got electrocuted and had to go to the hospital! It literally burned off my fingernails and left me with two little scars on the tips of my middle fingers on both hands. CRAZY! While I was in Europe, I traveled all over Italy and I went to Paris. The most incredible memories were made that trip.

5. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be queso and fajitas. Growing up on Tex-Mex, you could say I'm totally addicted to it. Tennessee does not have Tex-Mex and it really drives me crazy. The "Mexican" food here is not so good. *eye roll*

6. I am a person that can listen to a song on repeat for days and not get tired of it. Like seriously, if I hear a song that really hits me in the right spot, I'll listen to it at least 100 times non-stop. It drives my husband crazy and he doesn't understand how on earth I can do that. The most listened to song ever is "Here in Your Arms" by Hellogoodbye. I've listened to it all the way through 2,000 plus times! That doesn't even include the times where I skipped ahead or only listened to a certain part. Crazy I know!

7. I absolutely love traveling, but really like going to big cities the most. I'm not the biggest fan of the beach. I just hate the sand everywhere and the creatures in the ocean. I've been stung by a jellyfish before, so the beach and I aren't the best of friends. I love cruises and being on the beach for a short time. I would much rather travel to big ancient cities to learn all about history, culture, and art. I'm a major fan of busy, jam packed travel itineraries.

8. I love shopping and especially finding good deals. I don't have a problem paying full price for things that are out of this world extraordinary, but I really get a thrill of getting a fab deal on something. It's kind of like a treasure hunt or a challenge. I love shopping for shoes, purses, coffee table books, and ALLLLL the home decor. Seriously, I have a minor shopping addiction. Ok ok, maybe it's not so minor.

9. I love love love to make lists. Even if a list isn't necessary, I like to make one anyways. I'm pretty detail oriented and love the feeling of crossing off things on my list. There's a book out there called The Book of Lists and I think I need it. I just really like to make lists!

10. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be either Texas, Massachusetts, or France. Each of these places hold a special place in my heart and would make such an incredible place to write my story. One of the things my husband and I want is to show our kids that we really lived. I think finding adventure in a new place is terrifying, but extraordinary. Who knows, maybe one day (in the far future) we will end up back in Texas raising a family??

I know this post is a little different, but I hope this post was a fun way to get to know me better!

P.S. I'm absolutely loving my revamp of Chronicling Home! I think it needed a major makeover and I loved the way it turned out. Shout out to my husband for doing a beautiful job!
