Dream Job

4:00:00 AM

I have BIG news and I've been holding it in for so long.

After quite a few months of soul searching, job hunting, and waiting...I can finally say...I HAVE A JOB!!! AHHH! I am so beyond happy to finally say that out loud. Let me rewind a bit and explain what has been going on in the last couple months.

In February, I resigned from my job in finance. (You can check out that blog post here) It was a major leap of faith to leave with no real plan in place, but it had to be done. Luckily for me, my husband is the most incredible, patient, and wonderful person ever. He was totally on board with letting me take time to figure out what the next step was and not rush into any job just for the money. I only applied and interviewed for positions that would bring my great joy when I woke up in the morning. I didn't want to dread coming to work every single day or feel like I was trapped in a downward cycle. These past few months were very hard on me. I questioned my decision to quit every day. What kind of person was I to just leave with no job lined up?! But thankfully, my husband was always there to calm my fears and make me feel like the decision I made was the absolute best choice for us. I went through a lot of self doubt from rejection emails and a lot of hopes that were quickly dashed. There is a plan and I know that, but I wished many times that the Big Man would just clue me in!

Back in May, I got a call from a high school in Franklin. They wanted to interview me for a French position! AHH! I didn't go to college for education, so the fact they were willing to take a chance on me is so amazing. Long story short, this was a rollercoaster. Lots of things happened and a lot of things changed, but finally I start my position as a long term French substitute and then I will begin my job as a Teaching Assistant. Good news for me is I will be able to get my own classroom one day and I'm so happy for the amazing opportunity this school is giving me! I have dreamt about being a teacher for as long as I can remember. To say I am excited would be a giant understatement. I am thrilled.

All in all, these months have been just what I needed. I learned so much about myself, I found a job that is my dream, and I have found the spark inside me that went out long ago. It wasn't easy financially or emotionally, but it was so worth it. I am excited to see what is next and the experiences that this adventure will bring.
